Webmap “Business and Human Rights in Tanzania”

This interactive map presents an overview of the main project activities and output that IPIS and its project partners CHRAGG and BHRT have delivered as part of their project to “Improve monitoring, research and dialogue on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania ”. This project ran from December 2017 until February 2021.

The map locates project activities in Tanzania and allows you to find out more about each activity by clicking on the location dots. A side bar window will appear, supplying key information on the chosen activity, illustrate the activity with some photographs and will provide clickable links to associated output such as reports, news items or related websites.

Project activities are classified as part of one of three categories:

  • MONITORING – all activities that aimed to improve the reporting and follow-up of corporate human rights violations in Tanzania, such as the development of an improved human rights complaint handling system, fact-finding missions, public legal education and legal aid, mediation efforts, regional human rights awareness campaigns
  • RESEARCH – all activities that aimed to unearth, investigate, and report on Business and Human Rights news and/or specific cases of corporate human rights harm, such as the Quarterly Briefings, “Voices from Tanzania” case studies by Tanzanian civil society
  • DIALOGUE – all activities that aimed to facilitate dialogue within and between different groups of key stakeholders in the debate on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania, such as annual multi-stakeholder dialogues, business bilateral meetings, civil society bilateral meetings
