IPIS welcomes Loïc De Cannière as the new Chair of its Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of IPIS has appointed Loïc De Cannière as new chairman. Loïc takes over this position from Honorary Ambassador Johan Swinnen, who held the chairmanship for the past 10 years.

Loïc is the Founder of Incofin IM, a leading impact investment management company focused on the Global South. He has been leading Incofin IM for 25 years. Previously, he worked at DEME, a the marine engineering firm company, DEME and as Chief of Staff to the Minister-President of the Flemish Government.

He is the author of The Future of Employment in Africa: Demography, Labour Markets & Welfare (2025).

“At IPIS, we deliver vital on-the-ground expertise and guidance to advance peace where it’s needed most,” says the new chairman.

“I hope to contribute to the further growth of the research institute, and encourage the team to deepen its engagements with African policy makers and regional bodies that advance peace and sustainable development.”

IPIS director Filip Reyniers welcomes Loïc on behalf of the team and thanks Johan Swinnen for his unwavering support and enthusiasm in the past decade.
