Meanwhile, <a href=\"#tensions\">negotiations<\/a> continued between the Alliance of the Presidential Majority and the Rassemblement about what the Congolese government should look like.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <a href=\"#NK\">North Kivu<\/a>, Mai Mai groups are causing insecurity along the shores of Lake Edward. They reportedly killed several park guards and wild animals, took dozens of canoes and extorted fishermen. In Masisi territory, armed men killed the chief of Bishasha on January 7. On January 12, alleged ADF rebels set 18 motorbikes on fire in an ambush. During a Mai Mai attack on the Beni prison \u201cKangwayi\u201d on January 15, one person was killed and several others injured. In <a href=\"#HU\">Haut-Uele<\/a>, two people were killed by alleged Mbororo herdsmen, while in <a href=\"#BU\">Bas-Uele<\/a>, the FARDC forced LRA rebels out of Nakolongbo while freeing their prisoners and burning their camps. In Kisangani, <a href=\"#T\">Tshopo<\/a> province, authorities announced an upsurge in armed robberies and other crimes, stating that some 50 cases were reported in the past three months. The city\u2019s mayor also reported that 16 people, who were considered as criminals, were killed by the population. In <a href=\"#I\">Ituri<\/a>, local sources reported an attack by FRPI elements on a CENI enlistment centre in Aveba. In <a href=\"#K\">Kasai-Central<\/a>, about 200 rebels associated with chief Kamwina Nsapu reportedly took control of Tshimbulu on January 4. Clashes between the militia and the Congolese army last week caused 26 deaths. <a href=\"#HK\">Haut-Katanga<\/a> also saw several attacks by armed men, resulting in the death of a police officer in Kasumbalesa and the death of a civilian in Lubumbashi. In <a href=\"#Tan\">Tanganyika<\/a>, 15 to 22 people reportedly died, while dozens of others were injured, during confrontations between Bantu and Pygmy communities in Manono and Moba territories between January 4 and 11.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Ouham Pend\u00e9, in the northwest of the <a href=\"#CAR\">Central African Republic<\/a>, fighting between <a href=\"#3R\">3R<\/a> elements and an auto-defence group was reported on January 5. Several people were reportedly killed, among them one MINUSCA peacekeeper.
