Some good news was also announced, when the government stated that the number of <a href=\"#sexual violence\">cases of sexual violence<\/a> in the country dropped by over 50 per cent over the past two years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Sunday, October 9, the Deputy Secretary General of opposition party UDPS, Bruno Tshibala, was arrested at Ndjili airport in <a href=\"#K\">Kinshasa<\/a>. Meanwhile in <a href=\"#NK\">North Kivu<\/a>, alleged ADF rebels killed two people during an attack on Alungupa, 10 km from Beni, on October 7. A few days later, on October 9, 10 people were reportedly killed during clashes between the same militia and the FARDC in Mayangose, also close to Beni. Last week, Human Rights Watch denounced the inability of Congolese authorities and MONUSCO to secure the area after about two years of violence. In Rutshuru territory, the chief of Binza deplored the abduction of seven people by armed men since the beginning of October. Also in Rutshuru territory, Kashalira saw an attack by alleged Nyatura rebels. One girl was injured and three houses were burnt. In Kisangani, <a href=\"#T\">Tshopo<\/a> province, ten cases of armed robbery, of which two involved murder, were reported last week. Insecurity also prevailed in Mbandaka, <a href=\"#E\">Equateur<\/a>. On Saturday, October 8, a youngster was killed, while trying to help a family escape from bandits. The police and FARDC thought he was one of the assailants. In <a href=\"#HK\">Haut-Katanga<\/a>, famous Mai Mai militia leader, Kyungu Mutanga G\u00e9d\u00e9on, surrendered to the authorities on October 11, allegedly together with about 100 of his men.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last week, the <a href=\"#Burundi\">Burundi<\/a>an government announced its intention to leave the <a href=\"#ICC\">International Criminal Court<\/a>. Burundi reportedly suspended its cooperation with the <a href=\"#Human rights\">UN Human Rights<\/a> office, stating the latter produced wrong information about the situation in the country. Three human rights investigators were banned from entering Burundi. The country also saw several security incidents over the past weeks. In Cibitoke province, local activists denounced the murder of two older people in Mugina commune. Three people were killed in Rumonge province during a grenade attack on October 10 in Bugarama commune. In Bebanza province, armed men in military uniform injured a truck driver in an ambush on October 11.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <a href=\"#CAR\">Central African Republic<\/a>, new allegations of sexual abuse by peacekeepers emerged in Boda, where a 25-year old woman was reportedly raped by MINUSCA soldiers. About 40 km from Bambari, [ex-]Seleka elements allegedly took control of Ndepou village after killing the local inhabitants. This Wednesday, clashes between peacekeepers and ex-Seleka militia members erupted in Kaga-Bandoro.
