The Congolese police announced that a fourth soldier, who had also been reported dead, is alive and remains in detention. This week, Ugandan fishermen working on Lake Albert reported that one of their colleagues had also been shot dead by armed men from the DRC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Thursday, May 26, <a href=\"#DRC protests\">nationwide demonstrations<\/a> were organised by the Congolese opposition to protest against a possible prolongation of Kabila\u2019s presidency. During clashes with the police, dozens of protesters were arrested, at least one person died and several others became injured. In <a href=\"#NK\">North Kivu<\/a>, five people died on Sunday, May 29, when FDLR rebels attacked an army station in Nyiragongo territory. The next day, the Congolese army announced the death of another five people during a military operation against the ADF in Beni territory. In Masisi territory, inhabitants of Bashali-Mokoto called for FARDC assistance as Nyatura, APCLS and FDLR militia members are occupying the area. Last Wednesday, two humanitarian aid workers were kidnapped in Tama, Lubero territory. This Monday, May 30, the FARDC announced that they recovered four localities in Kalehe territory, <a href=\"#SK\">South Kivu<\/a>, from a coalition of Raia Mutomboki, Nyatura and Mai Mai. Last Thursday, <a href=\"#Ituri\">Ituri<\/a> saw violent confrontations between the FARDC and ULPC elements in Mambasa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <a href=\"#Burundi\">Burundi<\/a>, one police officer was kidnapped last Thursday in Bujumbura near the Gare du Nord. This Tuesday, one MSD (opposition) member became injured when attacked by unknown armed assailants. Several security incidents also occurred in <a href=\"#Uganda\">Uganda<\/a> over the past week. On Friday, unknown gunmen attacked an army post in Gulu district. Two people were killed and several arms were stolen. A land dispute between inhabitants of Abim and Amuria districts claimed the lives of two people, while five others were severely injured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <a href=\"#CAR\">Central African Republic<\/a>, an identification operation in the context of <a href=\"#DDR\">DDR<\/a> was launched this Monday, May 30. Reportedly, about 500 ex-combatants will have to participate.
