The insecure situation in the territory continues to spark protest by the civil society. On May 18, three days of \u201cville-morte\u201d were announced in Beni, Butembo, and Lubero territories. Meanwhile, the Congolese police presented a group of six ex-FARDC soldiers as alleged perpetrators of recent attacks near Beni. In Mutanda and Kihondo, Rutshuru territory, FDLR elements were accused of killing and extorting local inhabitants, while looting their property. Nyatura and FDLR rebels regained control over several localities in Bashali-Mokoto, Masisi territory, after the departure of the FARDC from the area. In the night between Saturday and Sunday, unidentified gunmen attacked an army position in Nyiragongo territory, killing two soldiers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Uvira territory, <a href=\"#SK\">South Kivu<\/a>, the FARDC reportedly regained several localities that had been under the control of armed groups. On Thursday, May 12, local sources reported that four civilians had been killed during clashes between rivalling Raia Mutomboki militias in Lulingu, Shabunda territory. In Mwenga and Kalehe territory, local inhabitants accused several militias of pillaging and extortion. On Saturday, May 14, ADF rebels killed five civilians during an attack on Ndalia and Katabeyi, <a href=\"#Ituri\">Ituri<\/a> province. In Mitwaba territory, <a href=\"#HK\">Haut-Katanga<\/a>, five rebels and one soldier died in an ambush by a group of Mai Mai. Violent confrontations erupted this Tuesday between artisanal miners and policemen in Kolwezi, <a href=\"#Lualaba\">Lualaba<\/a> territory, when the police attempted to chase illegal miners from a Rulco mining site. According to the police and local civil society, one person died.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In search of perpetrators of the continuous grenade attacks in Bujumbura, the <a href=\"#Burundi\">Burundi<\/a>an police presented seven alleged assailants. However, the detained denied the charges that were made against them. Last Wednesday, May 11, armed men in military attire killed a merchant in Mugamba, Bururi province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Thursday, May 12, Yoweri Museveni was re-inaugurated as President of <a href=\"#Uganda\">Uganda<\/a>. During the ceremony, about 160 people were reportedly arrested. Meanwhile, the opposition party (FDC) reported missing several of its leading party members. Opposition leader Kizza Besigye remained detained and was charged with treason.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <a href=\"#CAR\">Central African Republic<\/a>, ten people were injured last week during an attack by alleged ex-Seleka elements on the Grimari road axis, 30 km from Sibut.
