On May 3, the Red Cross confirmed that three of its employees were kidnapped in Rutshuru territory, supposedly by Rwandan militia members. In the night between May 3 and 4, alleged ADF rebels attacked villagers in the vicinity of Beni. Seventeen people were reported dead.
