{"id":22843,"date":"2021-02-27T17:43:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-27T16:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/?post_type=publication&#038;p=22843"},"modified":"2024-01-08T14:30:50","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T13:30:50","slug":"report-on-the-third-multi-stakeholder-conference-on-business-and-human-rights-in-tanzania","status":"publish","type":"publication","link":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/nl\/publication\/report-on-the-third-multi-stakeholder-conference-on-business-and-human-rights-in-tanzania\/","title":{"rendered":"Report on the Third Multi-Stakeholder Conference on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This report presents a summary of the outcomes of the Third Multi-stakeholder Conference on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania which was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on the 17<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;of February 2021, at Holliday Inn Hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was part of the project&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/project\/project_business_and_humanrights_tanzania\/\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/a><\/strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/project\/project_business_and_humanrights_tanzania\/\">Improving, monitoring, research and dialogue on business and human rights in Tanzania\u201d,<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em>which aims at building local and national capacities for improved reporting, fact finding, monitoring and follow-up of corporate activities in Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the conference was to&nbsp;<strong>raise awareness, build trust and strengthen the national multi-stakeholder network for advancing the agenda on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania.&nbsp;<\/strong>Representatives from Tanzania\u2019s government agencies, civil society and business community took part in the one-day meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day\u2019s programme included an overview of&nbsp;<strong>key project achievements in the areas of &#8220;monitoring&#8221;, &#8220;research&#8221; and &#8220;dialogue&#8221; <\/strong>, the presentation of&nbsp;<strong>five case studies&nbsp;<\/strong>on the human rights impact of large-scale infrastructure development in Tanzania &#8211; published as&nbsp;<em><strong>\u201cVoices from Tanzania\u201d<\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/publication\/voices-from-tanzania-case-studies-on-business-human-rights-volume-3\/\">&nbsp;(volume 3)<\/a> &#8211;
