{"id":20669,"date":"2021-02-02T16:54:53","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T15:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/?post_type=publication&#038;p=20669"},"modified":"2024-04-15T11:42:53","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T09:42:53","slug":"voix-du-congo-analysis-of-incidents-in-3tg-supply-chains-in-walungu-and-kabare-south-kivu-drc","status":"publish","type":"publication","link":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/nl\/publication\/voix-du-congo-analysis-of-incidents-in-3tg-supply-chains-in-walungu-and-kabare-south-kivu-drc\/","title":{"rendered":"Voix du Congo: Analysis of incidents in 3TG supply chains in Walungu and Kabare, South-Kivu, DRC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\">See our series: <a href=\"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/home\/capacity-enhancement\/voices-from-the-south\/voix-du-congo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">VOIX DU CONGO<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since November 2018, International Peace Information Service (IPIS) has been implementing the &#8220;Kufatilia&#8221; project which aims at strengthening transparency in the monitoring of incidents related to artisanal mining. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to monitoring incidents, CRESA also provided incident reporting and mitigation at artisanal mining sites on the periphery of targeted supply chains, with the assistance of other organisations in the consortium implementing the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of this work is to analyse incidents in the artisanal mining supply chains of Nzibira and Luntukulu, in Walungu territory, and Luhago, in Kabare territory, South Kivu Province, eastern DRC. <strong>This analysis shows that the incidents remain closely linked to numerous weaknesses attributed to the difficulties in implementing a transparent system of mining governance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Center for Research and Strategic Studies in Central Africa, CRESA is a non-profit civil society organisation under Congolese law, operational in some provinces of eastern DRC, including Maniema, North and South Kivu.
