The research is centred around four programmes: Natural Resources, Business &amp; Human Rights, Arms Trade &amp; Security and Conflict Mapping.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>IPIS is recruiting a researcher, starting as soon as possible<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a 90% FTE permanent contract. The\u00a0recruitment\u00a0will also serve to establish a small\u00a0recruitment\u00a0base for additional hirings for long and short term contracts. Therefore, eligible candidates are highly encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Job description:\u00a0<\/strong>Based in the IPIS office in Antwerp, you will carry out research projects and capacity enhancement activities on issues related to peace, development and human rights. You will disseminate structured information and analysis through written publications and presentations. You will specifically execute research projects related to the (ir)responsible sourcing of natural resources impacting sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position in the organisation:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>This is a researcher post for an individual who will work both independently and as part of a team. This post holder will report to the director.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary:\u00a0<\/strong>The salary is competitive to the Belgian NGO sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deliver structured information and analysis based on desk and field research<\/li>\n<li>Develop and deliver capacity building projects with local partners<\/li>\n<li>Secure project funding to ensure the continuity of IPIS\u2019 research projects<\/li>\n<li>Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as project management and reporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree with a preference for political science, conflict &amp; development, law, governance, or development economics<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated research, analysis and writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and delivering training and other interactive information sessions<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience of issues pertaining natural resources governance, mineral supply chains, conflict and development in fragile contexts<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written command of English or French and a good working knowledge of the other language<\/li>\n<li>Field experience in sub-Saharan Africa is desirable and willingness to travel to the region to conduct field research is essential<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work both independently and as part of a team<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including NGOs, academic researchers, policy makers, and business actors<\/li>\n<li>Permit to work in the European Union<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Selection process:\u00a0<\/strong>Please send a recent CV, cover letter and a 700 word writing sample (in English or French) to <a href=\"mailto:recruitment@ipisresearch.be\">recruitment@ipisresearch.be<\/a> before 14\/02\/2020, 17.00 Brussels time. The test will be organised in the last week of February.
