Capacity enhancement workshop on cartography with DRC mining authorities

\nIn the framework of its long standing partnership with DRC mining authorities, IPIS held a workshop in Kinshasa from May 8th to 12th, engaging with technical staff of \u2018Cadastre Minier\u2019, \u2018SAESSCAM\u2019 and \u2018Division des mines\u2019. The workshop focussed on Open Source solutions for mapping and web-mapping, such as \u2018QGIS\u2019 and \u2018qgis2web\u2019, and best practices in GIS management.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Cadastre Minier, SAESSCAM and Division des mines have been partners of IPIS since 2009, more specifically within the project mapping artisanal mining activities<\/a> in eastern DRC. They respectively manage mining concessions, support small scale miners and represent the ministry in the field. This training is part of the capacity enhancement component of the 2016-2018 extension of the mapping campaign,\u00a0 financed by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).<\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/a>Continuant son partenariat avec les autorit\u00e9s mini\u00e8res en RDC, IPIS a men\u00e9 un atelier \u00e0 Kinshasa du 8 au 12 mai 2017, avec les \u00e9quipes techniques du \u2018Cadastre Minier\u2019, du \u2018SAESSCAM\u2019 et de la \u2018Division des mines\u2019. Les formations ont port\u00e9 sur les logiciels libres de cartographie et de webmapping, tels que \u2018QGIS\u2019 et \u2018qgis2web\u2019, ainsi que sur les bonnes pratiques de gestion des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9o-ref\u00e9renc\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Le Cadastre Minier, le SAESSCAM et la Division des mines sont partenaires d\u2019IPIS depuis 2009, notamment au sein du projet de cartographie des sites miniers artisanaux<\/a> dans l\u2019Est de la RDC. Ces services g\u00e8rent les concessions mini\u00e8res, travaillent en appuie aux mineurs artisanaux et repr\u00e9sentent le minist\u00e8re dans les provinces. Cet atelier fait partie du composant \u2018renforcement des capacit\u00e9s\u2019 de l\u2019extension 2016-2018 de la campagne de cartographie, qui est financ\u00e9 par l\u2019Organisation Internationale pour la migration.<\/p>\n
