{"id":20778,"date":"2021-02-03T13:32:40","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T12:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/\/?p=20778"},"modified":"2021-02-03T16:23:41","modified_gmt":"2021-02-03T15:23:41","slug":"stakeholder-consultation-on-the-belgian-national-baseline-assessment-on-business-human-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipisresearch.be\/nl\/stakeholder-consultation-on-the-belgian-national-baseline-assessment-on-business-human-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Stakeholder Consultation on the Belgian National Baseline Assessment on Business &#038; Human Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In June 2017, Belgian governments adopted the first National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. &nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2020, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalbaselineassessment.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Baseline Assessment (NBA)<\/a>\u00a0on Business and Human Rights was commissioned by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.developpementdurable.be\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Belgian Federal Institute for Sustainable Development<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs<\/a>, to chart the progress made by Belgian authorities and companies, since the adoption of the first National Action Plan. Specifically, the researchers assessed the extent to which Belgian authorities and companies are implementing the NAP and the 31\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/documents\/publications\/guidingprinciplesbusinesshr_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights<\/a>\u00a0(UNGPs), which were unanimously endorsed by UN Member States in 2011. The consortium\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.flxml.eu\/lt-2172128378-af02d08935f151e625813c7bc836dab07bb273325a6feb5c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HIVA-KU Leuven<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.flxml.eu\/lt-2172128376-af02d08935f151e625813c7bc836dab07bb273325a6feb5c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Law and Development Research Group<\/a>\u00a0(University of Antwerp) carried out this NBA.\u00a0IPIS\u00a0supported the consortium in the assessment of conflict zones and arms trade. \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research team kindly invite you to a (virtual)&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.be\/e\/stakeholder-consultation-nba-business-human-rights-tickets-136825806671?fbclid=IwAR0oRmR4pTu-0KGYQzcg4Is4N_kqNMK-IOjr56EpdHyuy0-RY8h6dxNPviY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stakeholder consultation<\/a><\/strong><strong class=\"\"> <\/strong>on <strong>February 10, 2021<\/strong>. During this stakeholder consultation, the research team will present the findings of the NBA, and all stakeholders will be given the opportunity to ask questions and\/or to react to the findings.
