The UN reiterated its concerns over the humanitarian situation in the country and called for free and credible elections to be held soon. France announced that its military operation in the Central African Republic, <a href=\"#Sangaris\">Sangaris<\/a>, will come to an end this year. Meanwhile, the UN continues to receive allegations of <a href=\"#sexual abuse\">sexual abuse<\/a> by peacekeepers in CAR, raising the number of reported cases this year to 25.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <a href=\"#NK\">North Kivu<\/a>, insecurity on the roads has led authorities to decide that vehicles carrying passengers and merchandise should be escorted by the military. Last week, transporters halted their activities on routes between Goma and several other localities. Recently, the Congo Research Group reported that several attacks in Beni territory, which killed more than 550 people over the past 18 months, were perpetrated not only by ADF rebels, but also by members of the Congolese army, and by several other armed militias, such as RCD-KML. On Friday, March 25, a Caritas convoy was attacked by unknown assailants south of Uvira, killing one person and injuring another. The next day, Nyatura and APCLS rebels reportedly killed two soldiers and injured a third in an attack in Mpati, Masisi territory. Also on Saturday, alleged ADF elements killed one person, injured a second and set dozens of houses on fire in Beni territory. On Sunday, March 27, clashes between the FARDC and a coalition of Nyatura and FDLR rebels killed 16 people,both Congolese soldiers and militia members, in Mpati. <a href=\"#Ituri\">Ituri<\/a> saw large-scale intercommunal violence due to a land conflict in Djugu. Reportedly, two people were killed and about 100 sustained injuries. At the beginning of this week, the FARDC launched a military operation against the FRPI in Walendu Bindi. In <a href=\"#HU\">Haut-Uele<\/a>, three FARDC soldiers were killed during a confrontation with poachers on March 25 in Dungu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"#Burundi\">Burundi<\/a> continues to see <a href=\"#grenade attacks\">grenade attacks<\/a> on a regular basis. On March 24, three people were injured in two explosions close to the military hospital in Kamenge. The next day, the police reported that four soldiers were injured by an explosion in Musaga. They also stated they had found a <a href=\"#extrajudicial killings\">body<\/a> in a gulch between Gikoto and Gasekebuye. This Tuesday, March 29, a grenade attack injured seven civilians in Gihosha.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"#Uganda\">Uganda<\/a>n police have stated that recent <a href=\"#attacks on police stations\">attacks on police stations<\/a> are perpetrated by a newly forming network of rebels. Meanwhile, several reporters still accuse Ugandan police officers of <a href=\"#abuse police\">abusing<\/a> press freedom and other human rights. In Lira, the Resident District Commissioner announced a major recovery operation, following a directive which forces those in possession of <a href=\"#illegal weapons\">illegal firearms<\/a> to surrender their weapons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <a href=\"#CAR\">Central African<\/a> town Bambari, MINUSCA and the Red Cross found the <a href=\"#three corpses\">corpses of three minors<\/a> last Wednesday.
