Afin de mieux comprendre le secteur de l\u2019exploitation mini\u00e8re artisanale du cuivre et du cobalt ainsi que ses d\u00e9fis, IPIS a collabor\u00e9 avec le service minier congolais SAEMAPE et l\u2019organisation de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile IBGDH, bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Kolwezi, pour cartographier 51 sites miniers artisanaux dans la province de Lualaba et mener des entretiens avec les principaux acteurs du secteur minier. Cette \u00e9tude examine la production, les acteurs de la cha\u00eene d\u2019approvisionnement et les pratiques commerciales, l\u2019ing\u00e9rence d\u2019acteurs arm\u00e9s ainsi que la coexistence difficile entre l\u2019exploitation mini\u00e8re artisanale et les acteurs industriels, afin d\u2019identifier les principaux obstacles entravant la mise en \u0153uvre du cadre r\u00e9glementaire et limitant le potentiel du secteur en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement local.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t\t\t

As the conflict in eastern DRC entered its third year of major hostilities between the Rwanda-backed AFC\/M23 alliance and the FARDC\/Wazalendo coalition, diplomatic efforts continued in early 2026 to advance the peace process. Despite renewed diplomatic momentum and both parties\u2019 stated commitment to the peace processes, the situation on the ground remained marked by continuous violent clashes, shifting frontlines, and sustained civilian suffering.
\nAs the conflict continues, both sides are increasingly deploying kamikaze and combat drones in military operations, repeatedly causing civilian casualties.

Dans le territoire administratif de Faradje, situ\u00e9 dans la province du Haut-U\u00e9l\u00e9, au nord-est de la R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo, plus de 5 000 personnes d\u00e9pendent de l’exploitation artisanale de l’or pour subvenir \u00e0 leurs besoins et \u00e0 ceux de leur famille. De nombreuses familles de mineurs artisanaux le font depuis des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. Elles travaillent actuellement sur des sites qui rel\u00e8vent d\u00e9sormais en grande partie des permis d’exploitation mini\u00e8re d\u00e9tenus par Kibali Goldmines (Kibali), un joint-venture entre Barrick Mining Corporation, AngloGold Ashanti et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 parapublique congolaise Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 mini\u00e8re de Kilo-Moto (SOKIMO). New peace agreements from Washington and Doha have brought hope for initiating a pathway to resolve the ongoing M23-conflict in DRC\u2019s eastern territories in recent months. However, after the signing of the Declaration of Principles in Doha on 19 July, direct negotiations between the DRC and AFC\/M23 were intended to result in a comprehensive peace agreement and were planned to begin no later than 8 August. By the end of September, however, these negotiations had still not commenced. New mediation efforts have been made throughout June to end the ongoing conflict between the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels and pro-government forces in the North and South Kivu regions of eastern Congo. On June 27th, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda signed a peace agreement in Washington, D.C., aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering regional stability after years of conflict in eastern DRC. While Trump described the peace agreement as a \u201ctremendous breakthrough\u201d, critics caution that its successful implementation hinges on the political and diplomatic commitment from all parties involved.
