Sharon Lecocq studied Egyptology and Comparative and International Politics at the University of Leuven. During her studies, she also completed an internship at the Embassy of Belgium in Cairo, where she gained practical experience in diplomacy and conducted fieldwork for her Masters dissertation. Her research focused on the Egypt-Ethiopia water conflict regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. After graduating, Sharon became a student research assistant at the Leuven International and European Studies institute (LINES), working on EU climate diplomacy. She joined the IPIS team as researcher and editor in September 2015 and remains attached to the KU Leuven as a research assistant at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.
